What is it that makes activists crack?
We saw the social movements of the 60's take off with a boom,
rights for gays, blacks and women took off in a zoom along with
environmentalism entering the room. What has been the affect of
these movements on society today? Everything has changed, can we
say? The gap between rich and poor continues to rise, along
with degradation of nature while finite resources continue to
demise. Feminism paved the way for women to be just as over
worked as men. Segregation less blatant, more silent than it
had been. Some Battles of that time might have been won,
yet the war blazes on.
Is this why the justice cry eventually dies out? Is it
that those who fight for our Mother Gaia see their efforts
falter and fall, giving up eventually to the impossibility of
it all. The system too vast, hope of change so dismal, we
relinquish our grasp. Surrendering, accepting the fate of a
future laden with doom. In the eyes of The Machine our opinions
and passions evoke no emotion, for it will keep turning and
churning its thick black smoke loosing no steam, along with
the individuals being dragged at the end of their rope.
The Machine however, counts on this, the break in our souls.
Depending on our diminished esteem, to keep the operation smooth
and clean. What happens though when we get a twinkle in
our eye, lifting our head from the ground in to the sky.
Banning together with the wisdom of many, slowly crafting
questions of doubt to discover what it is really about.
A proverb and pic a day, keeps the chaos away.
